THE QUESTION
This election revolves around the failed record of Barack Obama. So our message will, by and large, be about holding him accountable to that record.
In 2008, Obama had no record. So he ran on hope and change. In 2012, he has a record. So he’s running on fear and division.
That means he’s already admitted that he failed. Every time he tries to make the election about something other than his record, he’s tacitly admitting failure.
So we have to be out there hitting that message. Attacking the president on his record. Holding him accountable for his policies. And reminding voters of his broken promises.
2012 is a referendum on the president. Did his policies work? Did he fulfill his promise? Are we better off as a country after his first term?
That’s the question Reagan asked about Carter’s record. It’s the question we’ll ask about Obama’s.
THE STANDARD
The president was elected because of what he promised. He gets to be re-elected if he fulfilled those promises. So, how’s he doing?
Well, I’m glad you asked. The RNC launched a website last week to answer that very question. FailedPromise.com. It’s a Top 10 List. But it’s no joke. It’s Obama’s Top 10 failed promises.
We take the President’s promises from the campaign and his presidency – and compare them to the results…
He promised to lower the cost of healthcare. Healthcare premiums for families rose 9 percent last year.
He promised to ban lobbyists from the White House. He’s hired over 100 of them…
He called adding $4 trillion to the debt unpatriotic. Then he increased the debt by $4.5 trillion…
He promised his stimulus would keep unemployment below 8 percent, and his team promised 6 percent unemployment by 2012. We’re close to neither of those.
And…in January 2009, Barack Obama promised that if he didn’t have the economy fixed in “three years” then his presidency would be a “one term proposition.
That, my friends, is a promise we will make sure he keeps.
IMAGINE
We’ve seen what an Obama presidency looks like. We don’t need another term. We need another president.
And remember this: everything the president has enacted, every liberal pipe dream he’s pursued, he’s done knowing that he’d have to face re-election.
Imagine—just imagine—what he would do in a second term if he doesn’t have to face re-election.
THE STAKES
In this election, our children’s future is at stake. Our freedom is stake. America is at stake.
We have to win this election…
If we don’t, collectivism will replace individualism.
Government agencies will replace free enterprise.
Presidential mandates will replace the Constitution.
Dependency will replace self-reliance.
The dreams of Obama will replace the vision of our Founders.
THE CONTRAST
Barack Obama is not your daddy’s Democrat. He’s not Clinton. He’s not Kennedy. He’s the first unapologetic leftist to live at 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue.
And he must be the last…
Because this is a president who’d rather bow to Chinese leaders than stand up for American greatness…a president who’d rather trash the Constitution than preserve our rights…a president who’d rather defer to the United Nations than defend the United States.
We serve the principles of Jefferson and Washington and Madison. He serves the demands of the union bosses, the central planners, and the elitist bureaucrats.
We believe in the philosophy our Founding Fathers. He believes in only one man’s philosophy: the philosophy of Barack Obama…
Barack Obama has put America on an utterly unsustainable trajectory. The more he grows government, the more he grows the debt, the less freedom our children will have to enjoy.
When Washington runs the economy, Washington runs our lives. And when Washington can tell us what to do, we can’t tell it to stop.
It’s time to end Barack Obama’s presidency, before his presidency ends our way of life.
