WASHINGTON – Republican National Committee Chairman Reince Priebus released the following statement regarding the last night’s Iowa Caucus results:
“Last night’s results in Iowa are a win for the Republican Party as we head into an important election cycle and show just how dissatisfied Americans are with Barack Obama. After three years of failed policies, it’s clear voters are fed up with the Obama presidency that is taking us in the wrong direction. With record breaking turnout, over 120,000 Iowans caucused to help elect a Republican to the White House, and according to entrance polls, 38 percent of last night’s participants were first time caucus-goers showing enthusiasm for the GOP as we work to make Obama a one-term president.
“Congratulations to all of our candidates for their effort to beat Barack Obama. Iowa is the first of many contests and we look forward to what’s in store in New Hampshire and the rest of the primary process. We have a great group of candidates and the real winner is the Republican Party.
“I want to thank Iowa voters for their participation in the Caucus as well as Iowa GOP Chairman Matt Strawn for running an outstanding process that involved so many Republican voters. Every day Republicans register more voters in Iowa while Democrat registration plummets in an important battleground state we intend to win.”
