Highlights from Conference Call W/ NH GOP Chairman MacDonald on President Obama’s Visit to NH

NH GOP Chairman Wayne MacDonald:
“I wanted to point out that it’s been almost two years since President Obama has last visited New Hampshire, but we all remember his campaign slogan of hope and change that he ran on.
“Unfortunately, President Obama has offered more of the same instead by pushing the Democrats’ failed agenda of more spending and more debt.
“It’s hard to believe that this is the same president who declared in February of 2010 when he last visited us that job creation was his number one focus. He’s done little to turn our economy around. Instead, he’s put in place policies that drive up our debt and scare away investors, impose more duplicative regulations and create economic uncertainty. These policies also grow the size of government and push out private companies. He’s burdened job creators in a time when we should be freeing businesses to hire American workers.
“As our local newspaper, the Union Leader, pointed out this past weekend, New Hampshire’s economy is doing better than its neighboring New England states…there’s a lesson to be learned here. The New Hampshire advantage of low taxes and limited government is helping to boost our economy. I wish the president were coming to New Hampshire today to take a look at the New Hampshire model, instead of just stumping for another stimulus bill and a campaign photo-op.
“The Democratic Party and the president like to talk about how they’re in favor of average Americans, and they want to help everyone. They also accuse Republicans of not being considerate enough, yet poverty is actually increasing under this president and a record number of people are currently on poverty.
“The president’s lack of leadership is evident everywhere, not the least of which do we see this lack of leadership regarding the failure of the Super Committee, and Senator Manchin from West Virginia has pointed out that he’d like to see the president step up as well. This president needs to lead, he needs to create jobs as he promised he would do.”
