WASHINGTON – Republican National Committee (RNC) Chairman Reince Priebus released the following statement announcing the appointment of Priscilla Rakestraw as Chair of the Committee on the Call:
“It is my pleasure to recognize Priscilla Rakestraw as the new Chair of the Committee on the Call. Priscilla has proven to be a dedicated member of the Party, currently serving as the Republican National Committeewoman for Delaware in addition to her prior roles as Chair of the Committee on Contests at the 1984 Republican National Convention, Chair of the Entertainment Committee and Co-Chair of the Delaware delegation at the 2008 Republican National Convention and a member of the Committee on Arrangements at every Republican National Convention since 1976. Priscilla’s experience, leadership, devotion and enthusiasm for the Republican Party will be essential in helping to make the 2012 Republican National Convention a success.”
Priscilla Rakestraw said the following on her appointment, “I’m honored to serve Chairman Priebus and the 2012 Republican National Convention as Chair of the Committee on the Call and to participate in the nomination of the next President of the United States.”
Under the Rules of the Republican Party, the RNC must issue the call for the 2012 Republican National Convention prior to January 1, 2012. The Committee on the Call will assist the RNC in connection with the issuance of the call. The call includes the date and location of the convention, the official delegate count for each state, including any penalties assessed, and the text of the rules relating to the convening and proceedings of the convention.
