RNC Chairman Reince Priebus:
“President Obama is hitting the campaign trail again this week. It’s amazing that he always seems to find himself in battleground states…Apparently it’s the only place in America that he seems to care about. But, he’s taking his DEBT End Bus Tour again to North Carolina where Bev Perdue has continued failing North Carolina in their economy almost equally as much as President Obama…they’re two peas in a pod.
“You know, Barack Obama is all campaign, all the time. It’s what he does best. It’s what he loves in life.
“But unfortunately for this president, the rest of this country understands that it takes more to lead than giving speeches and going on tax payer paid bus tours to lead this country in the most difficult times. We need a president who is a man of his word. We need somebody who says something and delivers on his promises and so far this president has been an absolute disaster for the American economy.”
NC GOP Chairman Robin Hayes:
“Once again, President Obama is coming to North Carolina, obviously a key state with the Democratic Convention coming here. We’re looking to point to again the disastrous economic policies and the huge cost to the taxpayer of this continuous campaign. We came up with the idea of “Towbama” and a tow truck and we’ve got pictures on our Twitter account which is @chairmanhayes or @NCGOP.
“We have offered and he has rejected to tow his bus back to Washington so that he can get on the world’s most expensive corporate jet, fly back to his office and really go to work helping this economy. Helping it by getting rid of ridiculous rules and regulations like NLRB and Boeing that Beverly Perdue backs him on and costs us a continental tire plant and the list goes on and on, but we thought some humor would be absolutely appropriate again as he continues to campaign nonstop, very expensively,
“We need jobs in North Carolina, we need real policy, and the President continues to attack Republicans. He couldn’t even get a Democratic sponsor for his spending bill, oh I’m sorry, the jobs bill, when he brought it to the Congress. And you saw last week the willingness to cooperate between the Republicans and Democrats when they passed much needed trade legislation.
“President Obama, go back to Washington, take advantage of folks who find components in your spending bill, Republicans and Democrats, that will help our economy, incentivize people to invest and do the types of policy decisions that will put America back to work.”
VA GOP Chairman Pat Mullins
“Two years ago Virginia elected…their first Democrat candidate in over forty years and President Obama carried the state. It is interesting with that background to watch the White House scramble now to find someplace where the current occupant of the White House won’t hurt the Democrat candidates.
“We are delighted that he is coming to campaign for his fellow Democrats here in Virginia. Governor McDonnell’s popularity rating is 70 percent. President Obama’s is less than 40. Nineteen percent of the people of Virginia are satisfied with the way President Obama is leading us. Sixty six percent are satisfied with the way Governor McDonnell is leading us.
“The Democrats are fleeing as fast as they come. The House minority leader, Ward Armstrong, recently threw Obama under the bus and his TV ads now are contrasting his positions with Obama’s. State Senator Ed Houck, who has been in for twenty years, doesn’t even use the word Obama or Democrat in any of his direct mail or his commercials.
“We started a scavenger hunt last week. We’ve asked folks in Virginia to find any kind of Democrat direct mail where the Democrat candidate says they will campaign with Obama, they support Obama and they are proud to be a Democrat under his leadership. We don’t have any winners to date and we are really not expecting anyone. Obama coming to Virginia, probably Timmy Kaine is the only person who wants to be seen with him.”
