RNC Chairman Reince Priebus:
“This president is in love with the sound of his own voice, he’s in love with campaigning, he’s in love with fundraising, and he’s in love with the stump. And he’s doing what he loves to do best, which is to go to battleground states, masquerade as official business, use taxpayer money to do it, and campaign …
“And you know his latest pivot to his quote unquote number one priority, the president rolls out a combination of old ideas and a new stimulus plan. But his new proposals are just the same old thing that he’s been doing for the past two and a half years. Back in 2009 he promised that the stimulus one would keep unemployment below 8%, well of course it’s still above 9% and it’s been that way for many, many months …
“With the recent bankruptcy of the stimulus-funded solar energy company Solyndra grabbing national headlines because of its political connections to the White House, President Obama owes the American people an explanation as to why they were so reckless the first time around before taxpayers are forced to spend another dime on another stimulus program as outlined by the president last week.
“And just as bad as the appearance of stimulus crony-ism from the White House is the fact that the president has no credible plan to pay for his 447 billion dollars in new spending. His only idea is to raise taxes and to push the responsibility of paying for it on to the debt super committee.”
NC GOP Chairman Robin Hayes:
“We certainly welcome this president and any president to North Carolina, but we want actual jobs, we want legislation that will promote job growth, we do not want more campaign promises …
“I fully expected and hoped he would have some sort of job announcement, but he and the governor of North Carolina, Governor Perdue, have been absent …
“We have a state that is next door to South Carolina. We have the same geography, the same topography, the same laws. But South Carolina has a strong business and jobs governor who has said ‘Welcome Boeing, we are a right-to-work state and we need to use that to the advantage of everybody in South Carolina’ …
“President Obama’s policies have destroyed our economy and devastated our jobs market, and again given the chance to stand up for North Carolina, she has failed to do that. It’s a very clear picture and it’s not at all pretty.”
Rep. Renee Ellmers (NC-2):
“Government inserting itself into the private sector and the free market is never going to be the answer and this is what our business owners are telling us. They are saying remove the uncertainty, take away those regulations, remove ObamaCare, remove Dodd-Frank, all of the things that are standing in the way of doing business.
“We have passed … legislation on to the Senate and only for it to stall. It is Harry Reid that is blocking prosperity in this country right now because he refuses to bring these things to a vote, and the American people are suffering …
“I am more hopeful than ever with the elections in New York and in Nevada and I am seeing that the American people are seeing through this dog and pony show.”
