RNC Chairman Reince Priebus:
“After calling a Joint Session of Congress to propose a yet second Stimulus of failed policies, the President is hitting the road this week in a political attempt to sell his package of old ideas. But unsurprisingly, he’s only stopping in major 2012 battleground states …
“Time and again, the President has proven himself the consummate Campaigner-in-Chief …
“His new spending proposals are in the same style as his first stimulus. We all know back in 2009, he promised that Stimulus One we would keep unemployment below 8 percent …
“The recent bankruptcy of the stimulus-funded solar energy company Solyndra is the prime example of stimulus failure. After taking over $500 million in government-backed loans, the company went under and laid off 1,100 workers. Not only that, the Obama administration fast-tracked the loan, likely because company officials were also major fundraisers for the President’s campaign.
“What’s worse, the President has no credible plan to pay for his $447 billion in new spending. His only idea is to raise taxes and to push the responsibility of paying for it onto the super committee …
“In less than 8 months since Republicans took control of the House, our new majority has passed numerous bills to spur economic growth, but the President continues to prioritize campaigning for reelection and promoting the liberal agenda over fixing our economy …
“My idea of stimulating this economy is to make Barack Obama a one term president.”
OH GOP Chairman Kevin DeWine:
“In Ohio, the failure of the first stimulus couldn’t be more apparent. We have more than 528,000 Ohioans who are out of work, families who are struggling, people who are looking for some sign of hope. They didn’t get it last month when as a nation, we created zero jobs …
“President Obama will be in town today and he has a very steep hill to climb here when it comes to regaining his credibility … It’s been 15 months since he and Sherrod Brown stood just blocks from where he will be speaking in Columbus this afternoon and declared that we would be celebrating the success of the first 825 billion dollar stimulus package.
“If the 825 billion dollar stimulus bill was so successful, why should Ohioans be asked to foot the bill for a second 447 billion dollar stimulus? …
“528,000 unemployed Ohioans don’t want another photo-op, they don’t need another campaign speech from the president. They need solutions which create jobs. Raising taxes on Ohio job creators is not the answer. That approach has already been rejected by Republicans and Democrats across this country alike.”
