WASHINGTON – Republican National Committee (RNC) Chairman Reince Priebus released the following statement in response to President Obama’s latest ‘pivot’ to jobs speech:
“In tonight’s address to Congress, President Obama yet again chose style over substance, leaving the 14 million unemployed Americans still waiting for reliable leadership that will get America working again.
“Instead of offering bold proposals to free job creators from excessive regulation and burdensome mandates, President Obama underwhelmed the country with empty rhetoric and calls for ineffective half-measures. Despite one failed stimulus, the President wants even more deficit spending.
“More of the same cannot achieve a different result. In the less than eight months, House Republicans have passed numerous bills to spur job creation, but the President has spent over two and a half years prioritizing the liberal agenda over the American worker. Tonight is no exception.
“This well-crafted speech peppered with catchy political slogans hardly merited a joint session of Congress. By breaking his latest promise of a ‘jobs plan,’ the President has once again failed the American people on his self-described ‘number one’ priority.”
