RNC Chairman Reince Priebus On Obama’s Fundriaing Trip To Chicago:
“Today after failing to lead during the debt ceiling debate … the Fundraiser in Chief is back in Chicago doing the one thing that he’s really good at and that’s raising money to save his job …
“We’ve lost 2.5 million jobs since this president took office, yet the only job Barack Obama seems to be concerned with is his own. Leaders lead, and this president’s leadership has really been nonexistent, unless of course it’s taking the initiative to raise campaign cash, showing that he’s only interested political rhetoric, not the results Americans desperately need …
“While Obama was jetting around the country on Air Force One in the past quarter, 61,000 Americans gave up looking for work. Obama created 2.12 donors for every job generated over the last 3 months. For every field office Obama opened in the past quarter, there were 7,236 foreclosure filings in America.
“On issue after issue, President Obama has been passing the buck instead of leading, reminding us why elections matter and how important it is for Republicans to take back the White House and the Senate in 2012.
“By contrast, Republicans have been governing as they campaigned: holding Democrats accountable, reducing the size of government, and focusing in on getting our country back to work. Now this is a far cry from Democrats plan of failed stimulus, 2.5 million jobs lost, more foreclosures, and ObamaCare that spent trillions.
“Republicans only control one half of one third of the federal government, yet with the leadership from people like John Boehner and Mitch McConnell, Republicans were able to take the first step this week towards putting our country’s fiscal house back in order.”
Illinois GOP Chairman Pat Brady On Obama’s Fundriaing Trip To Chicago:
“I do wish him a Happy 50 birthday and I hope that he considers the fact that when he comes here to raise money, he is in the state with the 50th worst budget deficit in the United States …
“Just today in the Chicago Tribune it’s been reported that Illinois is going to lose 1100 more jobs in the next 60 days. This on top of the news in the last couple weeks that an institution in the state of Illinois, the parent company of the Chicago Board of Trade, is contemplating leaving the state of Illinois because of the Obama/Quinn oppressive tax, regulations and spending policies …
“One commenter I thought was interesting said Governor Quinn, in this short period he’s been in office, has done more than the Chicago fire did driving out business from the city of Chicago and the state of Illinois. You know Reince touched on the failed economic policies of the Obama administration, they’ve been particularly acute here in Illinois.
“Since [Governor Quinn] took office, we’ve lost 125,700 jobs and the unemployment rate has gone from 8.1 % to 9.2%49,000 of those are manufacturing jobs, the base of this state’s economy. 29,000 of those are construction jobs.
“Since the stimulus – the stimulus that was supposed to revived our economy – we’ve lost 91,000 jobs. Obviously, … the Obama/Quinn policies are not working here in the state of Illinois.
“I think anybody that is actually from here and had watched Senator Obama in both the State Senate and in the United States Senate – he did not have a history of leadership. In fact, if you recall, Hillary Clinton raised in one of the debates, he voted present 126 times in the Illinois Senate and that is not an anomaly of Illinois, that is something that just doesn’t happen down there that often. And I think it’s instructive that in Illinois the button you push when you’re voting present is yellow and President Obama has never shown leadership, he didn’t do it here in Illinois and he‘s not done it nationally. So we do believe it’s time for a change.”
