“The message today is about two futures. And with this ad the RNC is putting up in North Carolina, it shows the two different futures we could have. It really shows what the end of Obama’s second term would look like …
“This President’s spending has put us at a point of a crisis. And the fact that Congress is being called upon to raise the debt limit is just another representation of this President’s failed leadership when it comes to economic issues.
“When we’re talking about the federal budget and our national deficit, and accruing national debt, it impacts economic growth, it impacts our ability to compete in the global economy, it impacts interest rates in the long run, and it impacts, business abilities to get credit and the cost of that credit …
“What we’ve seen out of this President when it comes to economic leadership is nil. And worse than that, when he has acted on economic issues he has made things worse not better: the failed stimulus of two years ago, the ongoing spending binge that this President continues to push, and, finally, his push to raise taxes …
“Higher taxes mean lower rates of economic growth, higher taxes mean that smaller businesses are paying more into government rather than trying to grow their business and employ new people. It impacts our economy in a major and substantial way. And so this RNC ad highlights that.
“Moreover it also highlights the fact that North Carolina is going to be a highly important state when it comes to the Presidential election. The map simply doesn’t work for this President to be re-elected without the state of North Carolina. He narrowly won it 3 years ago and he’s going to have to fight it out no matter who the Republican nominee is in order to win it again …”
